PUBS, BEER & WALKS
December 2010 - Frampton
To clear the cobwebs
from the previous night's Christmas Bash, many partygoers put on their
boots, braved the cold wind and icy conditions underfoot and made for
Frampton Marsh RSPB Reserve.
The Information Centre was warm and inviting, but after a brief check
on what wildlife was about, the trekkers set off on their travels round
the marsh. Due to the frozen conditions most of the birds, the
waders especially, were feeding close to the Centre's Hut. Some
of the walkers decided on a longer trek along the top of the bank with
views of Boston and were pleasantly surprised to see whooper swans
coming in to land overhead, sliding on the ice and settling down on it
as if in hope for it to melt. Godwits were also prevalent and
field fares too numerous to count.
Back at the Moores Arms
more Rosey Nosey and XB were consumed over an excellent carvery lunch.
It was good to meet new
members Jim & Judy and Liz & Ivan, and also Jeff; all of whom
plan to attend Fenland future events.
